Our
Story
Humble Beginnings
Power Yoga Project was founded by Heather Andrews, an avid yoga practitioner with a vision to bring yoga into the community to make it accessible and affordable for everyone. Heather is a wife, mother of three, native Nashvillian, IT Analyst and a really big kid at heart. She began her yoga practice as a means to get back in shape physically after her last pregnancy and create a better balance between work, life and overall health. After her first yoga class, she was immediately hooked and quickly became most inspired by Baron Baptiste and the Baptiste Yoga Methodology. Baptiste yoga represents community, service, possibility, leadership and transformation on and off the mat. Heather completed her yoga teacher training in June 2016 directly under Baron Baptiste and the Baptiste Institute in Sedona, AZ. From this intense, transformative and mind-blowing training she discovered an ability to be something bigger was within her all along. It was a matter of becoming aware of it, living in the present and being here now.
From this experience, Power Yoga Project (PYP) was born with the goal to share what Heather has learned and to provide a space on the mat for the entire community to come together, support each other and become empowered.
"Life is not in your head, come out and play." -Baron Baptiste
The Initiative
After teaching and training over the years, Heather's drive and competitive spirit led her to become an advocate for the change of how we treat ourselves and how we achieve an optimal life. She is certified in nutrition, yoga, and holds a "self certification" in bio-hacking. Being an entrepreneur, Heather began building her brand. Later, Falcon Longevity was founded to raise awareness to living optimal and the steps taken to get there along with coaching programs to achieve the healthiest lives and ultimately reduce or reverse aging. She knew something was still missing and maybe she had missed a step a long the way in teaching. The Power Yoga Project had now become an initiative, a movement, and a purpose. All of the things that Heather triumphed over had started with yoga whether it be founding businesses or winning medals in weight-lifting competitions, it all started with the freedom achieved through yoga. PYP classes are a little different than other classes and we knew that this brand of yoga had to be born. Our focus with PYP is to bring awareness to the benefits of yoga and also to teach the basics of yoga in an atmosphere that even the most skeptical of yoga would actually enjoy. Power Yoga Project classes and techniques involve a little more upbeat music mixed with a great flow. We also have a line of fitness equipment and athletic apparel. Our purpose in this is to become a nationally known yoga brand that breaks down some of the barriers between weightlifting and yoga. We will raise awareness to the benefits of practicing both disciplines and teach techniques that can used in everyday situations for relief from pain, stress, and just being out of balance.
